Carole Hughes comes from a family of East Coast sailors. Her sailing experience includes a voyage across the Pacific, but some of her happiest memories are of being afloat at Newtown with her son. She has also written The Adventures of Chit Chat.

Alan Padwick OBE(illustrator) spent some 35 years in the Royal Navy, seeing much of the world, mostly in small ships. On retiring, he and his wife cruised England for three years in their narrow boat before settling in Wiltshire to paint and frame pictures.
